Jimmy Dietrich - The Early Years
Well it's about damn time I stopped making videos of unobtainable rock stars long enough to make one of my all-time favorite rock star, my dad, Jim Dietrich. This montage attempts to show the origins of Jim's true creative genius, and I only hope it can shed some light on what makes this man rock and roll!

You Can't Keep Me Here -- Eddie Vedder
The setting for this video is so stunning and dramatic it is easy to overlook the lyrics to this powerful personal anthem. It's not kosher, but I'm not Jewish, and I think this and Myles Kennedy's "Summergirl" would make much better funereal songs than the normal boring hymns. Just my opinion. And no, I'm not planning on going anywhere soon, but people do think about these things, and I'm not the only one.
That said, enjoy this gorgeous video for Eddie's new song. I only wish we were going wherever this was shot to hear his concert this Saturday evening instead of Minneapolis.
"Can't Keep" by Eddie Vedder
I wanna shake
I wanna wind out
I wanna leave
This mind and shout
I've lived
All these lives
Like an ocean
In disguise
I won't live forever
You can't keep
Me here
I wanna race
With the sundown
I want a last breath
That I don't let out
Forgive
Every being
The bad feelings
It's just me
I won't wait
For answers
Oh you can't keep
Me here
I wanna rise
And say a goodnight
I wanna take
A look on the other side
I've lived
All these lives
It's been wonder
Full at night (?)
I won't live forever
You can't keep
Me here
These boys have always been able to capture what I'm feeling. And that's why I love them so.

I Don't Need No Stinkin' Cake
All I need is Myles Kennedy for my birthday, and Cornell friend Denise Fitz delivered with this fan video she found. It was made by Danish Superfan Sascha Andersen who, I suspect, has met Myles Kennedy more than his poor wife has ;)
Thanks, Sascha!!
It opens with my favorite moment from the 2009 Amsterdam show, shots of him playing Travelin' Riverside Blues, Hallelujah, and playing something shirtless (I sort of blacked out). Shows his fan devotion and inherent geekiness, and even his course of forgetting his own lyrics, God bless him. Lucky for him, with his voice and looks, we don't care what the hell he's singing, as long as he is.
So happy fucking birthday to me. A toast to Myles Kennedy, who makes rockin' 45 a whole helluva lot easier.
Go watch it again. I won't tell anyone.

Myles Smiles
Myles Smiles
A celebration of Myles Kennedy and the smiles he shares with his innumerable fans, dedicated to one of Alter Bridge's greatest fans and promoters, Erin Freriks, who left us unexpectedly at age 30 on January 10, 2011. Set to "Life Must Go On" from Alter Bridge's album AB III.
Erin would have been 31 today.
Enjoy!

Happy Motherfuckin' Birthday, Dave!!

Dave and Taylor just after viewing my video
Dave Grohl turns 42 years old today. Son of a bitch--that still makes me 18 months older than his sweet ass.
In honor of his birthday, go get flipped off (and entertained in general) by the Man himself. Made this when Slash's CD dropped last year--to the tune of Slash and Dave's "Watch This":
Watch This, Motherfuckers!
Go watch it again. You know you want to.

Here is the Gulf Oil Spill Disaster video I set to Slash and Myles Kennedy's song "Starlight."
Re-posting in honor of
a) Slash and Myles Kennedy's upcoming concert in Milwaukee, 09/05
b) the latest oil rig explosion 100 mi off the coast of LA and TX
c) the cool college kid at Office Depot who printed out my concert posters AND who promised to go buy Slash's CD (Holding you to it!)
Hey, it was my first video. At least the vocals and guitar are great!

Gulf Disaster Video spreading, too

What do @Slash, @MylesKennedy, @MatthewModine and @Alyssa_Milano have in common? No, not the Old Spice guy. They are all supporting the Gulf and have re-tweeted (or cross-posted) my Gulf Disaster video. Okay--Alyssa pending... all encouragement appreciated. She has ~1 million followers. Sent to @chriscornell and @aplusk (Ashton Kutcher) but no-go yet on those. Who can you send it to?!
Let the world see what BP--and us--have done to our Gulf. Maybe then we can start to heal.
Get creative! You'd be surprised who might support you. I know I have been!!

I know I need a laugh...
Since I brought down at least 1360 people who viewed my video montage of the Gulf disaster, I've been hard at work trying to mop up all the tears.
Dave Grohl, former drummer for Nirvana, lead singer for the Foo Fighters, and current drummer for Them Crooked Vultures, recently completed a side project for Slash. He played drums on a track called "Watch This." I hesitate to call it an instrumental because Slash's guitar sings throughout, but there are no vocals. (On the CD you do hear Dave say "Watch this!" at the very beginning.)
There are a few cameos in the video since Dave horses around with everyone he meets, so see how many you can identify. If you miss Slash, you just haven't been paying attention lately.
Go watch it again. I know you missed a few.
